Global Film Industry Adopts New Charter Putting Audience Trust First
Representatives from countries, international organizations, and leaders across the film, television and gaming industries have adopted the Lumiere Declaration, a new charter laying out 15 principles for how the global entertainment business should be governed. Creators, festivals and cultural institutions from around the world joined in adopting the document alongside those industry and government representatives. Among its stated principles, the declaration describes audience attention as a trust to be honored rather than a resource to be exploited. Beverly Hills, long home to much of the business the charter addresses, sits close to a rare instance of the industry's many branches committing to shared standards in writing.
