What this publication does, and what it will not do.
Every story states where the fact surfaced and links to it. We report facts in our own words; we do not reproduce another publication's sentences, and we do not run another publication's photograph on our own story. Facts are not copyrightable. Expression is. That line is the whole basis of this desk.
Photographs on this site are either our own, or openly licensed for commercial use with the creator named and the licence linked beneath the image. Where we have no picture we can use honestly, the story runs without one. A wrong or borrowed picture on a real story is worse than no picture.
The United States, and above all the places our titles belong to — Palm Beach, Naples, Miami, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Nashville, the Hamptons, Aspen, New York. If a thing happened somewhere else, it is not our story.
We publish arrival, achievement, craft, taste and the well-made. We do not run crime, scandal, lawsuits, illness, feuds or backlash, and we do not write about anyone's children. That is an editorial choice, not a claim that such stories do not exist.
Stories are written by the desk of the title named on them and are credited to that title, not to an invented byline. When a story carries a person's name, that person is real and can be written to.
Corrections run where the error ran, and the story says it was corrected and when. We do not quietly edit a published story. Write to [email protected] and the correction will be made or the reason it was not will be explained.
Any post or story carrying a commercial interest says so inside the post. We take no payment for coverage and no payment to remove coverage.
