UCLA Study: Young Viewers Want Onscreen Stories That Take Faith Seriously
A new study out of The Center for Scholars & Storytellers at UCLA finds that younger audiences, including Gen Z, respond to entertainment that engages religion directly rather than steering around it. The research, titled Future of Faith, points to demand for characters with layered spiritual lives and storylines that put belief to a real test. The findings raise a question for the industry based just down the road from Beverly Hills: whether stories willing to take faith seriously could be part of reaching younger viewers.
