The Nashville Symphony has a new chief executive: Mark Tillinger now leads the orchestra. In a city that usually hears its talent through a guitar amp, the symphony holds its own seat at the table, and whoever runs it is looking after one of Nashville's great civic instruments. The job is the business side of the music, the work that keeps the stage lit and the chairs filled, so the players can do what they came to do. Nashville will be watching, with high expectations, to see where he takes it.
