2,235 Hires Into the Pipeline That Will One Day Read Back Your Clearances

The FAA took on 2,235 controller trainees in its 2026 fiscal year, the most it has ever brought on in a single year. The agency is using the hiring to close staffing gaps at facilities around the country. The number is big, but owners will care more about what it feeds: the people who will someday issue your IFR release, sequence you into a crowded approach and hand you to the next sector. It's the right direction for anyone who files to Teterboro, Palm Beach or Aspen.
