The Army Takes Delivery of Garmin's 1,000th King Air Glass Panel
Garmin has now put its G1000 into the panel of a thousandth King Air, and the aircraft that carried the count over the line was not a corporate turboprop but a U.S. Army C-12 Huron. The Huron is the Army's name for the King Air it flies, and this one went to Garmin for a cockpit conversion like any owner's airplane would. For anyone running a legacy King Air under Part 91, the number is the story: a thousand airframes is enough that the installation is a known quantity, not a one-off engineering job. Shops have done it before, examiners have seen it before, and the resale market has priced it before. That the thousandth set of displays went into a government cockpit says the same package is being judged acceptable by a fleet operator with its own standards to meet.
