Delaware's Wings & Wheels Puts Vintage Airplanes and Aviation Hiring on the Same Ramp
Delaware's Wings & Wheels festival this fall will show classic aircraft and host a career fair for people looking for work in aviation. For owners, the career fair is the useful part. Every flight department, management company and independent owner-operator draws on the same small pool of pilots and technicians, and that pool is filled at events like this one. The vintage airplanes are the draw, and having the career fair beside them is a sensible way to put a working trade in front of people who came to look at the old metal. There will also be a lighter item: rubber chickens dropped from the air, a deliberately silly stand-in for the live-bird stunts that have given other fall gatherings a bad name. No actual poultry is involved. It is a small detail, and a good sign of how the organizers are running things. The event is meant for families and newcomers, and it wants to look approachable to the next generation.
