Dave the Potter's Stoneware Goes Home to His Descendants

· 1 min read

Works by David Drake, the enslaved American potter, have left the Milwaukee Art Museum and gone to his family. The Dave the Potter Legacy Trust arranged the transfer between the institution and the potter's descendants. It is unusual in American collecting for objects of this kind to move from a museum's holdings back to the family of the person who made them. The wire report gives no count of the pots and no terms of the arrangement, and we won't guess at either.
