Jenny Holzer, Rose Wylie and Xu Zhen Are Heading for the Slopes
Three sculptures are joining the open-air collection kept by the Powder Art Foundation in time for the 2026-27 winter. The additions come from Jenny Holzer, Rose Wylie and Xu Zhen, three artists whose names carry weight far beyond any mountain. With them in place, the foundation's count of outdoor pieces reaches 16, set across the terrain of the resort it calls home. That is the part a collector will notice: this is not a lobby hung with loans but a growing holding, built one commission at a time and left out in the weather for anyone with a lift ticket to find. A skier pausing at the top of a run meets the work the way a walker meets a bronze in a public square, without a wall label or a velvet rope. For readers who follow where serious contemporary art is settling in this country, a pass to the mountain now doubles as admission to one of its more unusual sculpture parks.
