Aftercare Takes the Winner's Circle at Laurel on Maryland Million Day
The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance will be at Laurel Park on October 24, when the track runs the Jim McKay Maryland Million Day for the 41st time. The alliance will have its people on the grounds through the afternoon, and for one race on the program its representatives will do the honors for the winning connections. It is a fitting place for them to stand. Maryland Million Day is the state's showcase for its own breeding, the one card each year built around horses sired in Maryland, and the people who look after those horses once their racing is finished belong in that picture. A reader walking the apron that Saturday will find the alliance alongside the owners, trainers and breeders whose day it is.
