A Dornoch Colt Leads the Way at Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Fall Mixed Sale
A colt by Dornoch brought the top price Monday at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Mixed Sale, the fourteenth running of the autumn auction in upstate New York. The sale arrived with a tall bar in front of it, since last October's edition had set the high-water marks for the event. The topper is a New York-bred, and his place at the head of the results said plainly what the day's buyers were after: a well-made horse carrying the state's breeding program behind him. That appetite for a sound New York-bred was the thread running through the session, from the first hip through the sale-topping colt. For the breeders and consignors who bring stock to Saratoga Springs each fall, a Dornoch colt at the top of the sheet is the kind of result the mixed sale exists to produce.
