The Juvenile Ladder Toward Louisville Gets Its Mid-October Update

America's Best Racing published a fresh edition of its rankings of two-year-olds with a case for the 2027 Kentucky Derby on Oct. 12. The list is a measuring stick for the youngest division, the colts still finding their stride a full season before the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs. The column opens on a plain truth of the sport, that ability alone does not guarantee a horse a place in the big spring race. For readers who follow the sales ring into the barn and then onto the track, it is the first serious look at which of this year's rookies are worth watching through the winter.
