The Hinckley 41 Trades Its Engine Room for More Deck

Hinckley's newest dayboat puts its power outboard, hanging a set of three Mercury Verados off the transom rather than tucking an engine below. That layout is doing real work: with no inboard machinery to build around, the 41-footer keeps its interior and cockpit open for water toys, gear, and the guests a day on the water tends to bring. The payoff for going outboard shows up in the numbers, too — Hinckley says the boat will run to 46 knots, brisk for a 41-foot dayboat built around comfort as much as speed. It is a boat sized for an afternoon, not a passage, and every foot of it appears to have been claimed for the deck rather than the engine room.
