Outer Reef's New 56-Footer Runs on Four Outboards Instead of Diesels

Outer Reef Yachts has introduced the 540 Adventure Sport, a 56-foot long-range cruiser powered by quad Mercury V-12 outboards, a break from the inboard diesel setups typical of boats built to go this far offshore. Belowdecks, the layout holds three staterooms, and the boat carries generous storage for tenders, dive gear, and other toys for owners provisioning for extended time at sea. The pairing of that much outboard muscle with genuine long-range range is the point of the boat.
