Choice Hotels Brings Half a Million Road Travelers Into Its Fold
Choice Hotels has agreed to acquire Harvest Hosts, a club for people who travel by RV, for $130 million. The deal gives the American hotel group a membership of roughly 500,000 RV travelers. For our readers, it's a reminder that a hotel company's guests don't always arrive by plane or taxi. Some arrive behind the wheel, with the kitchen and the bed already on board. Dom Dragisich, Choice's chief executive, now has to show that those RV travelers will also book hotel nights. That is the measure of this acquisition: whether people who already love the open road will choose a Choice hotel room for some of their nights.
