Anna Sui's Spring 2027 Started With A Painter's Portraits, Not A Runway

Anna Sui built her Spring 2027 collection around the work of painter Howard Gardiner Cushing, work she rediscovered through a 1972 Vogue feature. The story sent the designer down a research rabbit hole, tracing those decades-old canvases into an entire runway concept. It is a reminder that next year's clothes can trace back to a fifty-year-old magazine page as easily as to anything on this season's runways.
