Before the Gavel, a Fortnight With Louis Cane at Dior Beverly Hills
For two weeks, the Dior boutique in Beverly Hills is lending its floor to French artist Louis Cane. The show puts his sculptural pieces in one room with his furniture and decorative objects, so visitors see him working across several forms at once instead of one piece shown on its own. The timing matters: the exhibition comes just before Christie's sale, so collectors get to walk around these objects in person before they see them in an auction catalog. It's also a nice pairing, since a house known for dressmaking is making room for chairs and sculpture, and those are things you judge best up close. For Beverly Hills, the chance won't last long, and the gavel comes after it.
