On Friday, about 1,200 people who work in Designer Brands Inc.'s offices around the world will skip their usual workday and give their time to charities and local groups. The company is doing this for the second straight year. We usually write about the shoes people wear to big events, but this week the shoes worth noticing are the ones 1,200 volunteers put on for a day of real work. It shows that a company can be well run and generous at the same time.
