The Fashion Institute of Technology opens its doors September 23 and 24 for its 27th annual on-sale, where donated designer pieces and celebrity contributions go up for grabs in the name of tuition support. It is a rare New York fixture: a sale where the racks are stocked by people who already made it, for the benefit of students still finding their way in. Every purchase becomes a small vote of confidence in whoever designs next.
