A Former Hole Bassist Puts the '90s Uniform Back on Display
Melissa Auf der Maur spent her twenties on bass for Hole, watching the decade's music scene from the inside rather than through a lens pointed at it. Her new photography book turns that same access outward, gathering an exclusive edit of raw, grainy images that trace the untidy look of American youth culture through 1990s rock. It reads less like a fashion history than a firsthand record of one, shot by someone who was already in the room.
