A Jacket That Grows With You: Patricio Campillo's Living Design for Spring 2027

Designer Patricio Campillo has built a jacket not from woven cloth but from bacteria, letting the garment take shape through a living process rather than a loom. It anchors his Spring 2027 collection, "In Media Res," which he has built around the question of how a piece of clothing actually relates to the body wearing it. Rather than treating fabric as a fixed surface, the work treats it as something responsive — grown, not just cut and sewn. It's a quiet argument that a jacket can be a collaboration with biology as much as with a pattern.
