The Meatpacking District Gets a New Address for the Frames
Ahlem Manai-Platt has opened her largest store yet, planting the flag for her eyewear label in New York's Meatpacking District. The shop folds optical services in alongside her French-made frames, so a fitting and a one-of-one creation happen under the same roof. It is a bigger footprint than the designer has built before, and a bet that eyewear deserves the kind of showroom usually reserved for clothes or jewelry. For a neighborhood built on statement storefronts, hers now makes the case in frames rather than fabric.
