The Met's Archive Might Get the Main Stage

The Costume Institute is weighing a future exhibition built entirely around its own permanent collection, we're told. Instead of assembling a show from outside loans, the museum would draw the whole exhibit from pieces it already holds. For an institution built on decades of acquired fashion, letting its own holdings carry a show would be a statement in itself.
