New York's Quietest Shoe Just Became Its Loudest Story

Evelina, 23, sent out a pair of shoes at New York Fashion Week this season that look, from across the room, like nothing more than a classic white ped sock. There is no visible upper to speak of, just the bare architecture of a foot in motion. It is the kind of restraint that is easy to miss and, this season, impossible to ignore — attendees kept coming back to look. In a week built on volume and embellishment, the shoe that shows the least won the room.
