Nike's Apex Stacks Two Air Units in One Sole

Nike has a new racing flat for the archive, and it outdoes the model the brand only just introduced. The shoe is called the Apex, and it layers two Air cushions, one on top of the other. By Nike's measure, it gives back 40 percent more of a runner's energy than the Alphafly 3. The Alphafly 4 improved on that same older model by 10 percent, so the Apex claims four times that gain. At a moment when sneakers get a second look on Fifth Avenue as often as on the course, a sole built in two stories is a detail our readers will notice.
