Noguchi and Asawa Hold the Barnes Until the Second Week of January
The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia has given its galleries over to "Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America," and the run lasts until January 10, 2027. The billing puts Isamu Noguchi and Ruth Asawa at the top of the card, with a wider company of Japanese American artists credited alongside them for the shape of design in the United States after the war. For a desk that files every gown by house, year and occasion, that is a show organized the way we think: by maker, by era, by what the room was for. The occasion here is the American interior itself, and the designers in question are the ones who decided how it would sit, glow and hang. January 10 sounds generous now, but it is the kind of date that arrives while one is still deciding on the coat. Consider this your calendar note.
