New York's China Institute marked its 100th anniversary with a black-tie fashion gala at The Pierre, honoring a guest list drawn from both sides of the Pacific. Vera Wang and Jason Wu represented the American bench; Guo Pei, Wang Feng, Grace Chen and Vivienne Tam stood in for a century of Chinese craft. It was the kind of evening this hotel does well: a ballroom full of designers being toasted rather than reviewed.
