Serena and Venus, Reunited Courtside in Nike Custom-Built for the Occasion

Serena Williams took the court in doubles alongside her sister Venus on Friday night, the two once again sharing a sideline the way they have for decades. The jacket she wore for the occasion was a custom Nike piece, cut for her and her alone, and it did what a good custom piece should: it made people look twice, then remember exactly who they were looking at. Fans watching didn't need the history recited to them — the U.S. Open scoreboard from years past does that work on its own, and the jacket simply gave it a frame. Two sisters, one court, one night, and a garment that understood the assignment.
