Tommy Hilfiger Dresses the Grandstand in Denim for Austin's Grand Prix
Tommy Hilfiger has turned out a Texas-flavored capsule timed to the Formula 1 weekend in Austin, running Oct. 22 through 25. The designer builds the lineup on denim, which is about as honest a Texas fabric as there is, and finishes it with the stars-and-stripes flourishes the house has always treated as its signature. It is made for the people in the stands rather than the people in the paddock, which is where the real dressing happens at any race anyway. Picture it against Austin in late October, when the heat finally relents and a jean jacket stops being a dare. For a house that has spent its whole life trading in red, white and blue, a motor race on American soil is a fitting runway. We will be watching the crowd as closely as the cars.
