A Chapel in Its First Week: Maithri and Taylor on the Lower East Side
Sure Thing Chapel had been open on the Lower East Side for less than a week when Maithri and Taylor came through its doors. The New York outpost opened on September 3rd, and by the 8th the couple stood beneath the heart-shaped marquee out front while it glowed pink. Sylvie Rosokoff was behind the camera and placed them in front of that sign. It was one of the first pictures taken at the new address. The day was built from specific pieces. There was red velvet. There was a Bob Mackie from 1992, a design already three decades old by the time it reached a Manhattan chapel that was five days old. And the cake was topped with swans. It was a brand-new room on an old downtown street, marked by a couple who were there early enough to be among its first.
