Elena and Alexandr's Wedding Was Decorated With Their Own Paintings
Nothing on the wall came from a rental catalog. Each figure there had first been a painting by Elena and Alexandr, drawn from pages they had filled themselves. There was a leopard in pink. A moon had a face drawn on it. Women were rendered in deep blue and purple. Together they formed a backdrop that belonged to no one else. The flowers matched that spirit: lilies set with jewels, as much ornament as bloom. Guests had guns that fired bubbles rather than anything louder. It was a wedding built from the couple's own art and decorated in their own hand.
