Saddle Brown and Pale Blue on the Veranda at Abbott Mansion
The palette for this styled editorial was the pale blue of a robin's egg, set beside the deep brown of worn saddle leather. The whole shoot carried an equestrian theme, and the brown came in on that note. The shoot was staged on the veranda of Abbott Mansion. Above it hung a curtain of bronze satin, drawn back to show a painted scene of woods behind it. The metallic sheen of the satin sat between the two main colors and tied the soft blue to the leather tone. On paper, a pairing that gentle could have looked too sweet. In front of that painted woodland, it looked composed and grown-up.
