At Atlanta's SCAD AnimationFest, Rising Animators Make the Case for the Artist in an Age of AI
The 10th SCAD AnimationFest in Atlanta closed with a panel on the craft of animation and where it is headed. Ten animators shared the stage with a director whose work has earned an Academy Award nomination. Their discussion covered artificial intelligence and what it means for the people who draw, design and move characters on screen. The panelists argued that the individual artist still has a central role in the work. In their view, what a single animator brings is a way of seeing that no one else can supply. The festival has now held ten editions, and this panel was the last item on the final day of the anniversary program.
