Jocelyn Bioh's 'School Girls' Draws Strong Broadway Notice
Variety has given a favorable review to the Broadway production of Jocelyn Bioh's "School Girls; or, the African Mean Girls Play." The review calls the play an outstanding depiction of young Black women as they come of age. It describes the last years of girlhood as a stage of life that cannot be recreated, when a young woman sits between childhood innocence and the demands of being grown and moves back and forth between the two. For New York theatergoers, the review adds Bioh's play to the list of Broadway productions now earning praise from critics.
