Variety Names Matt Damon and the Knicks to Its List of New York's Most Influential
Variety has published a power list naming the people and institutions it considers most influential in New York, and the actor Matt Damon and the New York Knicks are among them. The magazine calls the list its New York Legends Power List. The list starts from the city's size: about 8.5 million residents in roughly 300 square miles, the largest population of any U.S. city. Variety connects that influence to the city's best-known institutions, including Broadway, Wall Street, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Damon comes from film and the Knicks from professional basketball, and the list places both in the same group as the theater, finance and music institutions it names.
