Butter Yellow and Citrus, Timed to the Light on Cayuga Lake
Emily and Josh held their summer wedding at Inns of Aurora in New York's Finger Lakes, on the water at Cayuga Lake. The palette was citrus and a soft butter yellow, and the day was built around the late light over the lake. RD Events and Design planned and designed it, so one team handled both the logistics and the look. For a bride weighing yellow, the lesson is that it depends on the hour. Warm, low sun makes butter yellow look intentional, while flat midday light can wash it out. Putting citrus next to it gives the pale shade enough contrast to hold up in photographs. If your venue sits on water or open ground, set the timeline by when the light arrives, and let the palette follow.
