Choosing the Venue Where It Started: A Black-Tie Wedding at the Country Club of Detroit
Ginny and Gordon married at the Country Club of Detroit, the same club where the two went out together for the first time. That makes the venue decision the useful part of this story. They didn't choose it by comparing ballrooms and price sheets. They chose it because it already meant something to them, and a couple with a place like that has most of the venue search behind them. The dress code was black tie, which set the tone for every guest before they arrived. The styling took its cue from Nancy Meyers, the filmmaker whose name has become shorthand for a certain kind of polished, lived-in comfort. Pairing black tie with that reference points to a formal evening that stays warm rather than stiff. Photographer Liz Banfield, a member of the Little Black Book, covered the wedding from start to finish.
