Finally, a Scotch That Knows Who Is Holding the Cigar
The Dalmore has put out a new eighteen-year-old bottling, and it was built from the start with a lit cigar in mind. The distillery calls it a Cigar Malt, and the whisky spent its years moving through five different kinds of casks before it was deemed ready. That is the whole idea: a single malt meant to sit beside the smoke rather than compete with it. In Palm Beach that means the porch after a dinner that ran long. In Naples it means the lanai, the water going dark, and nobody in a hurry. In Miami it means whatever hour the evening decides to end, which is rarely the one planned. Five casks and eighteen years is a lot of patience to spend on one glass, which is precisely the kind of patience this part of the coast respects.
