Chanel Hands an Artist Its Past, and Gets a Magazine Back

A much-admired contemporary artist, stalled and short of ideas, got a call from Chanel with an unusual offer: the run of everything the house has kept. What came out of that long look backward is a new exhibition, and alongside it a magazine of the artist's own making. The printed thing is the part to watch, since the house has turned a show into something that can sit on a table in the North End long after the walls come down.
