Mariska Hargitay stepped into her first turn as an Emmys host this year, opening the show with a musical monologue and a lineup of famous friends brought out to join her. The New York Knicks devotee traded the courtside seat for center stage, guiding the room through the number herself. For an island that keeps half an eye on the Knicks all winter, it was good to see one of the team's own get the biggest room in television for a night.
