Manassas Clears Part 139, Virginia's Busiest GA Field Edges Toward Airline Gates
Washington Manassas Airport has secured Part 139 certification, the FAA's operating-safety standard for airports handling scheduled air carrier traffic. The designation is a prerequisite for commercial passenger service, not a guarantee of it, but it puts the field a step closer to hosting scheduled flights alongside its general aviation traffic. Manassas already carries the distinction of busiest GA airport in Virginia, a status built on business and private aircraft movements rather than airline schedules. Owners based there, or routing through the DC-area airspace, now have a data point worth tracking: a field long defined by GA activity is formally cleared for a different kind of operation.
