A Super Decathlon Works the Box at Oshkosh
A Super Decathlon flew maneuvers at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on September 1, the subject of AVweb's Picture of the Day. The Super Decathlon is a two-seat, taildragger built for the aerobatic category — spins, rolls, and loops, not range or cabin altitude — a different discipline entirely from the cabin-class turbines most of our readers keep on the ramp. AirVenture remains the one week a year when that whole spectrum, piston aerobat to business jet, shares the same airspace and the same show line. The photograph is a reminder that stick-and-rudder flying still draws a crowd at the country's biggest gathering of aircraft owners.
