Lapis lazuli carries a resume few gemstones can match: ground for centuries into the pigment favored by painters of sacred subjects, and cut for royal courts long before it found its way onto a jeweler's bench. That same mineral, veined in its familiar deep blue, now forms the centerpiece of a brooch. The stone needs no embellishment beyond its own history — collectors have prized that color since long before it was ever set.
