The Case Against Neutral in a Small Room

Designers weighing in on paint choices for compact rooms are pushing back on the instinct to default to pale and neutral. A tight room, they say, does not always benefit from a safe, whisper-quiet shade. In the powder rooms, pool houses and primary baths that make up so much of the smaller square footage in places like Palm Beach and Aspen, a deeper or bolder color can do more for a room than restraint ever could.
