Julia Child's Cambridge House Is Listed at Just Under $6.5 Million
The Cambridge, Massachusetts, house where Julia Child lived for many years is now on the market, with an asking price just short of $6.5 million. Few American houses are known to so many people who have never been inside them. Television made this one familiar, and a generation of viewers came to know its rooms from the screen. The price is the asking figure on the listing. It is not a sale price, and the house has not sold. There is one clear limit on the offer: whoever buys the house should not expect to cook in Child's own kitchen. Some houses are sold on their square footage and some on their setting. This one is also being sold on the name of the person who lived there, and on a public life that was partly lived inside it.
