A Bonhams Initiative Aims to Send Resale Proceeds Back to Artists

· 1 min read

Kasseem Dean and Alicia Keys have partnered with Bonhams on a new initiative designed to give visual artists a share of proceeds when their work changes hands again on the secondary market. The Artists Rights Society, which advocates for artists' resale rights, praised the effort as a "vital first step." For collectors accustomed to watching prices climb on work long after an artist last saw a dollar from it, the move signals a shift in how one major auction house is thinking about who benefits from a rising market.
