Bonhams Tests Sending Some of the Resale Back to the Maker

Bonhams has begun piloting a new resale-royalties scheme, built to return a share of future resale value to the artist behind a work. The program is still in an early, test phase. It amounts to a quiet acknowledgment, on the house's part, that the value a collector realizes on resale traces back to the person who made the thing in the first place.
