At the Breuer, Philippe Parreno's Ice Sculpture Is Built to Disappear
French artist Philippe Parreno is bringing a sculpture titled "Iceman" to the fourth floor of the Breuer building, where it will be on view only for as long as it holds its shape. The work is being presented as part of Independent 20th Century, the art fair taking over the landmark Madison Avenue building, and comes courtesy of the gallery Esther Schipper. Made to melt, "Iceman" turns its own slow disappearance into the point of the piece. Anyone hoping to see it intact will want to visit early in the fair's run.
