Jeff Koons's Balloon Dog Comes Off the Pedestal and Onto the Wrist

Jeff Koons's Balloon Dog, one of the sculptor's best-known forms, has been reworked as a wristwatch. The design is being produced in three pneumatic metal finishes, each built to carry the sculpture's rounded, inflated look at wrist scale. Every one of the three is capped at an edition of 200, a number that keeps the piece in collectible rather than mass-market territory. It is a straightforward move for Koons collectors: the same silhouette that has stood in galleries and living rooms, now sized to be worn rather than displayed.
