Sotheby's New York Sets October Date for 140-Lot Lichtenstein Sale

Sotheby's has scheduled a 140-lot sale drawn from the Lichtenstein Collection to open October 7 in New York, timed to land just ahead of a major Lichtenstein exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The offering is valued at roughly $10 million across its full run of lots. The timing places two of New York's biggest Lichtenstein moments of the season within weeks of each other, giving collectors a chance to bid before the artist's work goes back on public view at the Whitney. The sale marks one of the more substantial single-collection groupings of the artist's work to come to market this year.
